Happiness Always

I've been wanting to get the CardMaker's Sketch Book Birthday Celebration for a while now, I've got the first one, but somehow had never got around to it. Last week I was on Amazon for something completey different and eventually bought it. I could wait for it to arrive and to get started, the only thing is you want to do them all (which I will) but not on the same day. I've used one of the sketches for this card and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

These books are great for when you get stuck and have a bit of a brain freeze and there is loads of inspiration in them.

Cupcake Craft Challenge #44 - Fathers Day

It was my turn to set the challenge this week, and with it being Fathers Day soon I decided that was the perfect choice. However it had to be more than a card. You can interpret that anyway you want to, if it's not Fathers Day in your neck of the woods then something for a man (any man) will do.

I used this gorgeous paper from a Craftworks Cards Goody bag and I have no idea what it's called. If you know please let me know because I would love to get some more. Head on over to Cupcakes Craft Challenge and check out the DT's cards.

Where has the weekend gone? I can't believe it's nearly over. Another fab sketch from CPS and they have some super DT cards too. CPS #119

Kay Miller and Kay Carley on the same card, how fab is that? This is my attempt at the CPS challenge this week. I normally try and get it done on the Sunday but I had another project I was working on so I've only just got round to doing it last night. I think the the Backing Paper and the Stamps work so well together.

The brads that I used for the 3 flowers were silver, but I used some dries clear glue and dipped them into the glitter pot. You may need to click on the picture to get a better look.

Supplies Used:
1. Card - White from Stash, SU! Brilliant Blue Textured CS
2. Papers - Kay Miller's Over the Rainbow
3. Stamps - Kay Carley's Aspects of Design Funky Flowers
4. Embellishments - Organza Ribbon from The Stamp Man, SU! Silver Brads, SU! Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
5. Tools - Aqua Painter,
6. Mediums - SU! Classic Stampin' Pads

Bordering Blue Meets Paisley

Have you ever looked at a colour and thought yeah, ok. Then actually used it and thought Wow! Bordering Blue was my yeah, ok colour and now I just love it. I've used the Paisley Background stamp on Whisper White, I tried it on coloured card using coloured inks and VersaMark on Kraft but it didn't quite have the effect I was looking for. Next I'll try white on colour and see what that's like.

I used white grosgrain ribbon which I put on the ink pad and covered with a piece of sponge then holding the sponge down I pulled the ribbon through at an even pace to colour in Bordering Blue. I find this works better than using MArkers as you get an even coverage and a perfect colour match.

Supplies Used:
1. Card - White from Stah, SU! Whisper White and Bordering Blue CS and Textured CS
2. Papers - None
3. Stamps - SU! Paisley Background Stamp and SU! Wonderful Words
4. Embellishments - SU! White Grosgrain Ribbon coloured with SU! Bordering Blue Ink Pad
5. Tools - SU! Piercing Tool and Template
6. Mediums - SU! Classic Stampin' Pad Bordering Blue

Home Decor

We're in the process of doing our Bedroom up, 2nd last room to do in the house. The other day when I made the topper for my Papertake Weekly card using Kay Carley's Funky Flowers, OH said that he really liked it, and it got me thinking. As a result here is part 1 of 3. I had to take the photo at a funny angle so as not to get any reflection.

I realy enjoyed making this, the wood was just a bare pine but I used my Close to Cocoa Ink Pad and I think it turned out really well. The picture is very plain and simple but if you know me then you'll know that that's exactly what I like.

Supplies Used:
1. Card - White from Stash, SU! Close to Cocoa and Bordering Blue Textured 12 x 12 CS
2. Papers - None
3. Stamps - Kay Carley's Aspects of Design Funky Flowers
4. Embellishments - Gems from Stash
5. Frame - 12 x 12 Deep Frame
6. Mediums - SU! Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painter

Cupcake Craft Challenge #43 - Colour Challenge

This week's challenge is a colour challenge given to us by Ida. Now I haven't done many Colour Challenges before so please bear this in mind when you read the rest of this post.

Colour Challenge

What a challenge it was! I really struggled with this one. I made 3 cards on Saturday and just didn't like them at all, I eventually gave up and decided I would start over again on Sunday Morning. So I got up and did this card in about 20 minutes. I'm thinking that maybe I should have just done something else completely on Saturday because I don't think my Mojo was around at all. And to top it off, I've just realised that the challenge was also a card for kids. Oh well, kids have friends too! don't they? We'll just imagine that this is for a very mature kid.

Do have a look at the rest of the Design Team's cards, at least everyone else read the instructions better than I did.

Supplies Used:
1. Card - SU! Tempting Turquoise, Pixie Pink, and Yoyo Yellow CS
2. Papers - Over te Rainbow by Kay Miller
3. Stamps - SU! Occasional Greetings
4. Embellishments - On Board Blossoms and Basics chipboard Photo Corners
5. Tools - Paper Piercing Tool and Template from the SU! Crafter's Tool Kit
6. Mediums - SU! Stampin' Write Markers

Thank You Helen

I got these two lovely awards from Helen, now I'm sure as everybody knows I'm notoriuos for not returning the favour when it comes to Blog Awards. It's not intentional I promise, it's just that I keep thinking I'll do it later and then something else comes up, or I can't think who to pass them onto etc, you know all the "time related excuses". Well I promised Helen I would post straight away and so here I am.

I'm passing both these awards onto the Ladies who have given me Awards in the last few months to which I've not passed on again as a way of saying sorry, and that I did appreciate them thinking of me. If you were one of these Ladies please take these awards and leave me a comment so I know who you are and I'll go look for the award you originally gave me and post it on my Blog and I'll add your name here too.

It was Evelina's turn to set the challenge this week and and she has chosen the theme "Fairies". All you have to do is have a Fairy or a few present on your card or project. Can't wait to see all the wonderful creations. I've had these stamp sets for a little while now and haven't really had the time to play with them properly so I thought this was a pefect opportunity.

I tried a little stitching on my card, very basic but it was fun. I of course had to change my whole card layout because I decided to do it at the last minute and had already matted everything up. Never the less it was a lesson learnt and next time I'll do the stitching first. CPS #118

I really enjoyed this weeks CPS Sketch. I took abit longer than usual on planning this one. I wnated to do something a bit different, I'm getting a bit bored with the normal Square and Rectangular card shapes, although when flat it is rectangular so technically I didn't stray to far. When I started this I had decided on the papers, matting and layering and the card colours, I had no idea that it would turn into a Baby Card.

1. Card - White from Stash, SU! Old Olive, Bashful Blue, and So Saffron
2. Paper - SU! Junior Varsity DSP
3. Stamps - SU! Bundle of Joy
4. Ribbons - SU! Bashful Blue Tafetta Ribbon and SU! Fairy Tale Ribbon Originals
5. Buttons - SU! Soft Subtles
6. Tools - Scallop Circle and Circle Nesties

A Passion for Papertrey Challenge 6

This was a hard one, I really wanted to use the fab PTI goodies I won from the last challenge but had no idea what would fit from recycling. One thing I always recycle is Robbons, from chocolate boxes to the ribbon on the inside of tops, they're supposed to help when it comes to hanging them up but they always manage to find their way out when I'm wearing them. The first thing I do now when I buy tops is cut them out and put them in my Robbon Bit Box. So naturally thats the first place I looked for some recycled stash and found this Ribbon that was wrapped around a box of embellishments that I had won last year.

Don't forget to go and take a look at what Steph & Kate and everyone else has done.

Supplies Used:
1. Card - PTI True Black
2. Paper - PTI 2008 Bitty Dots Basic Paper
3. Images - PTI Everyday Classics

I've always been a "white" CS person but now suddenly I find that I actually like Vanilla, and it works so well with some of the other SU! Colours.

I Cased a Card and I liked it!!

I cased the layout of this card and now that I'm posting it, do you think I can remember where I found it? No, I can't, so if it's your card layout I do apologise that I haven't mentioned you. Let me know if it is yours. What I like about this card is that the card stock and the Mat layer are the same colour but different textures. While the photo doesn't show it that well, this is one of those cards that does look better IRL.

Cupcake Craft Challenge - One Layer Card

The Cupcake Craft Challenge this week is a One Layer Card, it's one that will stretch you to your limits and make you think. I obviously didn't think too much on this one as I didn't use a paper at all, but I did check and it qualifies. I love this kind of card because you can make some really stunning, plain and simple ones. They're perfect for quick Thank You cards or for making a set of Cards.

I just love these colours together, the pink and greens match each other perfectly. Please go and have a look at what the rest of the Design Team have come up with, you won't be disappointed. There are so many beautiful cards to inspire you and I hope you join us this week and show us what you come up with.

Julie's Jems Team Challenge 2

It was my turn to send out the Kit this week and it was SO hard to decide what to send. The really hard part is finding enough of everything, there are 8 of us and the next one is for 9 as we have a new team member. Go and have a look at what Steph, Sarah-Jane, Julie, Sarah, Anne, Sarah, and Siobahn have created.

I do love this Image, but it's not exactly your everyday kind of stamp. Well at least I've got some worth out of it.

Supplies Used:
1. Papers - SU! So Saffron and Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer Paper

2. Card - SU! Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red and More Mustard Textured Card
3. Image - Image by Design "Bee's"
4. Sentiment - SU! Oval All
5. Ribbon - SU! Chocolate Chip and More Mustard 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
6. Brads - SU! Earth Elements and from Stash

SU! Sheffield Field Training

On Monday night we attended Stampin' Up! Field Training. It was really good to get around a table with my SU! Mum Julie and SU! Sisters Sarah and Elaine and other SU Demonstrators. We had great fun, did some make and takes and a swap. Now I've not done a swap like this before, so wasn't quite sure what to expect or do. I did feel like they were a little plain but I really love them. So much so I didn't want to give them all away LOL.

I made five of each variation and these are perfect for quick Thank You Cards or Just because cards or even Invitations. The strip at the end is the remains from scallop punching. I used the corner rounder first then scallop punched. When it comes to bulk cards Ribbon can be quite expensive but strips of waste is for nothing.

Unmounted Rubber Stamps

I wonder if there is anyone out there that could help me please. I recently bought some Cushioning mount for my Rubber Stamps (I won't mention names), I then went ahead and mounted some of my Sugar Nellie stamps onto this cushioning. The only problem is, is that the cushion is a lot thinner than the one I normally use. I just don't like the way my stamps are stamping and want to remove the cushioning and mount them onto the other one. Does anyone know how to get the cushioning off the stamps? When I try to pull it off it breaks and I really want to do it without damaging my stamps. Any suggestions? Please :o)

Easter Blog Candy

As you can see Jennifer has some fab Candy to give away. Go on over and see what you need to do to be in with a chance of winning it.

I'm a Design Team Member!!

I have been chosen to be part of the Cupcake Craft Challenges Blog Design Team! I received the email from Lauren earlier today and have been watching for the announcement all night. Finally I can tell everyone. I'm really looking forward to some great challenges. We start on April the 6th (My Mom's Birthday) so please join us for loads of fun and exciting challenges. Do you want to know who else made the team? Go take a look.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

It's a sketch this week and the minute I saw I knew exactly what to do. The only problem was finding the time to do it. Which is why it's so late, it's been another hectic week!

I made a matching basket, this is the same basket we did in Julies Workshop but I made mine a bit bigger and added paper instead of stamping. In the Basket is the most delicious Easter Egg and some Mini Eggs!

These are South African Easter Eggs, they have a hard candy coating over a hollow chocolate egg. You're supposed to suck off the candy till you get to the milk chocolate inside and then devour what's left.

Supplies Used:
1. Papers - SU! Washington Apple Designer Papers (MC)
2. Card - SU! Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron Card
2. Image - Penny Black 12 Day's of Christmas (Yes, that's right)
3. Medium - SU! Stampin' Markers
4. Ribbon - Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, SU! Linen Thread
5. Brads - SU! Rich Regals
6. Tools - SU! Round Scallop Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Nestabilities Large Circle and Scallop

The big Four O

It was my OH's birthday last week, and a big one at that. Now I know I'm not alone here when it comes to making mens cards, but I find them really hard. And obviously I'm not very good at funny cards either, but there you are. This is the card I gave him, he did laugh though.

Both lines of the sentiment are actually at the bottom of the stamp but I masked parts of the stamp when I inked it up

Supplies Used:
1. Papers - SU! Bashful Blue Designer Papers
2. Card - SU! Brocade Blue Card
3. Image - SU! Golden Oldies (Mini Catalogue)
4. Ribbon - SU! Bashfull Blue Striped Grosgrain (MC)
5. Other - Chipboard from stash
6. Medium - SU Stampin' Write Markers

Cupcake Craft Challenge - Brown + 1

This weeks challenge is to use any one of these three colour combos.
1) Brown + Pink
2) Brown + Blue
3) Brown + Green

Well lets guess which one I choose! I just love Brown and Blue... and Pink... and Yellow... in fact I think I like most colour combo's using Brown. Funny because I was never a "Brown" person. I just love this SU! Simply Scrappin' Set, it's so versatile.

Supplies Used:
1. Papers - Everything is from SU! Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Set
2. Tools - SU! Scallop Circle and 1-3/8" Circle Punch
